General Membership Meeting - December 11, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by President Leroy Collier. The pledge of allegiance was led by Sergeant-at-Arms Louis Mack and there was a moment of silence for departed brothers and sisters since the last meeting. The roll call was answered by twelve officers and stewards in good standing. Motion passed to waive the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting, to be printed in the next issue of the Mail Call. Bills read and a motion passed that the warrants be drawn and bills be paid. Motion passed to excuse Jan Siechert from the November meeting. The following applications for membership were read and accepted on the first reading: Deborah Schurle and Bernard Riley. Welcome!!

Health Benefits Rep, Walter Washington, reported that he was contacting Branch 2200 members to switch to NALC plan during open season. Jan Siechert reported on a legislative breakfast with President Bill Young and State President John Beaumont speaking about e-activism and COLCPE.

Motion passed that the Executive Board meeting be held at Taylor’s restaurant in La Canada and that the Branch pay for that meeting. Motion passed that the Branch give a $50 gratuity to the office secretary and $25 to the regular letter carrier.

The President informed the membership that the Glendale Postal Credit Union has merged with the Glendale Teacher’s Credit Union and that $100,000 CD’s were purchased, one each for the Building Fund and Convention Fund.
Motion passed that the Branch contribute $500 to the Postal Relief Fund.

Cake raffle for MDA took in $110. Four winners: Hinh Tran, Donald Smith, Anthony Freeman and Larrie Rhodes.

General Membership Meeting - Novmber 13, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 7:12 p.m. by President Leroy Collier. The pledge of allegiance was led by Sergeant-at-Arms Louis Mack and there was a moment of silence for departed brothers and sisters, with special remembrance of Brother William Fletcher. The roll call was answered by ten officers and stewards in good standing. Motion passed to waive the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting, correct as printed in the Mail Call. Bills were read and a motion passed that the warrants be drawn and the bills be paid, with modification of HBR bill. Motion passed to excuse H.T. Tran and Frank Costanzo from the meeting.

Walter Washington, NALC Health Benefit Plan representative, presented a video expounding on the plan’s benefits and encouraging members to sign up for NALC’s plan. Vinh Trieu reported on the Mutual Benefit Association programs and informed the membership that transitional employees are eligible for the program and that benefits are taken with the insured upon leaving the Postal Service. Rob Burskey followed with information on COLCPE
and the California Station Association raffle at the state convention for new “Gimme 5" donors.

Motion passed that the Branch authorize up to $700 for the purchase of a multi-function copy machine.
Motion passed that the Branch donate $50 to the 8th Annual Blanket Run, payable to Teen Futures.

President Collier discussed transitional employees transferring to other offices and 204B’s carrying mail.
